Ian Charles Silvester, 60, has been convicted of 79 offences for sexually assaulting 19 boys over nearly 30 years, with the trial concluding on 20 November 2024.
Silvester, who held various positions of trust including Cub Scout leader and diving instructor, exploited these roles to gain access to young boys and their families.
Between 1986 and 2013, he manipulated victims into situations under the pretense of innocent games or educational activities, ultimately leading to sexual abuse.
Upon his arrest, authorities seized digital devices from Silvester's home, revealing incriminating material including images and recordings of his assaults on the victims.
Emma Lile, a Specialist Prosecutor, emphasized the disturbing nature of Silvester's crimes, highlighting the bravery of the victims whose testimonies led to the conviction.
Detective Constable Nicky Beard acknowledged the courage of the victims and reaffirmed the commitment of law enforcement to pursue justice for those affected by sexual offenses.
The Crown Prosecution Service has established a dedicated unit to handle complex child sexual abuse cases, ensuring robust legal action against offenders.
