Murder suspect arrested after Birmingham shooting leaves one dead and another critically injured

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a shooting in Birmingham that resulted in one death and another critical injury.
The incident occurred on Rotton Park Road in Edgbaston shortly before 11pm on Friday. Emergency services discovered a man in his 20s in a vehicle, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, in his 30s, was located at a nearby bus stop and is currently in critical condition at a hospital, according to West Midlands Police.
Police apprehended a man in his 30s on suspicion of murder just before 12.30am, and he is currently in custody. The police have implemented road closures in the area and are conducting reassurance patrols. Detective Inspector Nick Barnes emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that efforts are underway to ascertain the details surrounding the incident.
"We have made significant progress with the investigation and have a suspect in custody, but we need further information from the public," Barnes stated. He urged individuals who were in the vicinity, particularly those with dashcam or mobile phone footage, to come forward to assist in clarifying the events that unfolded.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to reach out, and they are also accepting anonymous tips via Crimestoppers to aid the investigation.
