Israeli Forces Kill Seven-Month-Old Palestinian Infant in West Bank Shooting
A seven-month-old Palestinian baby boy has been killed by Israeli gunfire in the occupied West Bank, as confirmed by the Palestinian health ministry. The infant, identified as Sam Fahd Abu Haikal, was pronounced dead after the incident in the Tel Rumeida area, south of Hebron. His parents were also reportedly injured in the shooting.
The baby's grandmother stated that the family's vehicle had stopped upon seeing Israeli military personnel in the distance. She recounted that shots were subsequently fired. "One bullet struck my grandson, traversed his face and crossed his head, striking his mother's cheek where it lodged," the grandmother detailed. She added that the father's finger was grazed and the mother remains hospitalised.
The killing of Sam Fahd Abu Haikal adds to the escalating civilian toll in the West Bank. Over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since the commencement of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023. Israeli attacks in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 70,600 people, according to the official health ministry.
