Mark Hughes's Son Alex Died from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome in Macclesfield
Alex Hughes, the 45-year-old son of former Wales international and Premier League manager Mark Hughes, died due to sudden adult death syndrome (SADS), a Cheshire coroner has determined. Mr Hughes was discovered collapsed by his two sons at his Macclesfield residence on 19 June.
A post-mortem examination, conducted by Dr Andrew Hitchcock, found no clear cause of death, leading to a conclusion of SADS. The coroner noted that SADS affects approximately 500 individuals in the UK annually.
Mr Hughes, a project manager, leaves behind two sons, an infant daughter, and his wife, Gemma. His family stated he was a "devoted and loving husband and father" who would be "desperately missed by everybody who knew him".
