Poland Claims Russian Military Helicopter Breached Airspace for 42 Seconds

Poland has formally accused Russia of violating its airspace. According to Warsaw, a Russian military helicopter crossed into Polish territory from Belarus, remaining in its airspace for 42 seconds before returning. The alleged incursion occurred near the Polish-Belarusian border.

In response to the alleged violation, Polish air defence scrambled fighter jets, highlighting the heightened state of readiness along NATO's eastern flank. This incident occurs against a backdrop of ongoing military exercises in the region, including those involving Russian and Belarusian forces.

Warsaw's government has presented this as a serious breach of its sovereignty and has stated it will take appropriate diplomatic and security measures. Such incidents underscore the precarious geopolitical climate in Eastern Europe, where Western powers, including Poland, maintain substantial military infrastructure designed to counter perceived Russian assertiveness.
