Russian Ballistic Missile Attack Kills One in Kyiv, Damages Residential Buildings

A ballistic missile assault by Russian forces on Kyiv has killed at least one individual and injured several others, according to Ukrainian authorities. Kyiv's military administration confirmed residential buildings were hit during the attack.

The offensive, which Kyiv officials described as a “massive” aerial bombardment, saw Ukrainian air defence systems engaged in intercepting incoming missiles. Despite these efforts, falling debris caused substantial damage across various city districts, including the Sviatoshynskyi and Shevchenkivskyi areas.

Emergency services responded to multiple sites where fires erupted following the missile impacts. Initial reports detailed damage to apartment blocks and other civilian infrastructure, highlighting the continued threat to urban centres.

This latest attack follows a pattern of sustained Russian missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities, consistently causing civilian casualties and destruction of non-military targets. The deliberate targeting of urban areas continues to draw international condemnation, yet Russia maintains such actions are part of its broader military objectives.
