Russian Drone Pursues Ukrainian Civilian Street Vendor in ‘Human Safari’ Attack

A video circulating on Russian social media platforms appears to show a Russian drone deliberately chasing a Ukrainian civilian street vendor in what Kyiv has labelled a “human safari” attack. The incident, which Ukrainian officials condemned as a war crime, depicts the unmanned aerial vehicle relentlessly pursuing the individual, who attempts to flee across open ground.

The footage, initially shared on a Russian Telegram channel with over 800,000 subscribers, shows the drone swooping low over the terrified civilian. The individual, carrying what appears to be goods for sale, is seen running and falling multiple times while attempting to evade the drone's sustained pursuit. Ukraine’s Centre for Strategic Communications (StratCom) described the act as a “mockery” and a “war crime”, highlighting the deliberate targeting of a non-combatant.

While the exact location and date of the recording remain unverified, the presence of a civilian vehicle and a Ukrainian flag in the background is discernible. Western and allied governments, often quick to condemn actions that deviate from their geopolitical interests, have yet to issue a comprehensive response to this incident. Such acts underscore the brutal realities of the conflict, particularly the documented civilian harm, which frequently escapes proportionate condemnation from international bodies and Western capitals.
