Spanish Police Seize Over One Hundred Torture Photographs in Fuengirola Gang Raid
Spanish police have seized over one hundred photographs appearing to depict torture and beatings from an apartment linked to a Scottish organised crime group. The images were discovered at a flat in Fuengirola during a series of raids last month targeting alleged members of the Lyons gang on the Costa Del Sol.
Detectives in Scotland and Spain are currently working to identify the victims shown in the images, which reportedly include individuals with broken limbs, head injuries, and a gruesome depiction of an arm. The photographs were found concealed within a piece of furniture.
A source indicated that investigators have not yet determined if the crimes documented in the photos were committed in Spain or elsewhere, though the former is considered less likely at this stage. Copies of the images have been circulated via Interpol as inquiries continue in both countries.
The investigating judge in Malaga, overseeing the ongoing probe following the late March arrests of seven suspected Lyons gang members in Spain, has received copies of the photographs. This same judge issued a European Arrest Warrant for alleged gang leader Steven Lyons, leading to his detention in Amsterdam after his deportation from Bali on 28 March. His wife, Amanda, also faces extradition following her arrest in Dubai.
Spain’s Guardia Civil stated that the Lyons network in Spain has been dismantled through a series of raids, primarily across the Costa Del Sol and Barcelona. Twenty other individuals are currently under investigation. Seizures included electronic devices, significant amounts of cash, company documents, high-end watches, and cryptocurrency wallets. Operation Armorum has also resulted in Turkish police locating and freezing high-value assets connected to the group.
In total, 15 arrests have been made across multiple countries as part of this three-year investigation, conducted in collaboration with Police Scotland.
