Ukraine Strikes Russian Oil Refinery, Airfield; Moscow Reports Eight Civilian Fatalities

Ukrainian forces conducted drone strikes against the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Russia's Rostov Oblast and a military airfield near Morozovsk. The Rostov regional governor stated the attacks caused fires at these facilities.

Separately, Russia’s Defence Ministry announced its forces had executed overnight strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure and naval vessels in the Black Sea. This action was framed as a response to Ukrainian aggression.

In Ukrainian-controlled territory, officials reported eight civilian deaths following Russian bombardments in Donetsk Oblast. Four individuals were killed in Pokrovsk, with three more in New York and one in Krasnohorivka. These casualties underscore the ongoing human cost of the conflict, particularly in the eastern regions.

The targeting of Russian energy infrastructure represents a continuing Ukrainian strategy to disrupt Moscow's war economy. Meanwhile, Russia's consistent targeting of Ukrainian port facilities signals its intent to undermine Ukraine's maritime capabilities and trade routes, critical for its economy and Western-backed efforts to export grain.
