Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Wildberries Warehouses Near Moscow and Tambov
Ukrainian drones have struck two significant Russian Wildberries online retail warehouses. One attack hit a facility in Elektrostal, approximately 60 kilometres (37 miles) east of Moscow, on Saturday morning. The second incident targeted a warehouse in Tambov, some 460 kilometres (285 miles) southeast of the capital, on Friday.
Russian emergency services reported that one individual was killed and at least four others sustained injuries in the Elektrostal strike. Footage circulating on Russian social media channels showed fires and extensive damage at the Elektrostal site, a major distribution hub for the online retailer. The Wildberries company acknowledged damage to its Elektrostal complex, confirming injuries and one fatality.
Ukraine's President described the targeted sites as "major logistics facilities" that were being used to supply "sanctioned components". This framing suggests a deliberate targeting of infrastructure perceived as supporting Russia's war effort, rather than solely civilian commerce. The Kremlin has yet to issue a detailed statement on the alleged use of these facilities for sanctioned materials.
These attacks follow a pattern of Ukrainian drone operations increasingly targeting infrastructure deep within Russia. Such actions invariably prompt questions about the operational reach of Ukrainian forces and the effectiveness of Russian air defences, particularly around key economic centres.
