Arrested Man Cleared in 1993 Harry and Megan Tooze Shotgun Murders
South Wales Police have confirmed that a man arrested as part of a cold case review into the 1993 murders of Harry and Megan Tooze will face no further action. The couple were found dead with shotgun wounds at their isolated farm near Llanharry, Rhondda Cynon Taf, more than three decades ago.
The individual, who was not named by authorities, had been taken into custody in April 2023 on suspicion of murder. He was subsequently released on bail as detectives continued their investigation into the unsolved killings.
During the initial inquiry, the Toozes' son-in-law, Jonathan Jones, was twice convicted of the murders but later acquitted on appeal in 1996. The case has remained a focus for the force’s specialist Major Crime Review Team.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police stated, "Following a thorough investigation, the individual arrested in connection with the murder of Harry and Megan Tooze has been released and will face no further action." The force continues to appeal for any information regarding the case.
