Boat Explosion at Haulover Sandbar Hospitalises 11 in Miami, Investigations Underway
A boat explosion at the popular Haulover Sandbar in Miami, Florida, has resulted in eleven people being hospitalised with burns and traumatic injuries. Emergency services responded to reports of the incident at the tourist location.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Juan Arias confirmed that eleven casualties were transported to local hospitals. The precise cause of the explosion remains under investigation by US authorities, who have yet to release further details.
Eyewitness Patrick Lee, a local boat charter, recounted seeing “three people fly out of the boat” and observed many with “burns all over them,” attributing the intensity to “high octane petrol.”
Video footage from the scene depicted a helicopter landing near the Miami marina, with emergency teams attending to at least one injured person on a stretcher. Fire and rescue crews were supported by the US Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation in their response efforts.
