Brixton Shooting Injures Four, Stabbing Leaves Man Critical; Police Investigate Link on Coldharbour Lane
A drive-by shooting in Brixton, south London, injured four people on Saturday morning, with one 25-year-old man now in a life-threatening condition. The Metropolitan Police are investigating a potential link to a stabbing that occurred approximately 700 metres away an hour later, which left a 33-year-old man critically injured.
The shooting took place on Coldharbour Lane at approximately 01:15 BST. Four individuals were hospitalised with gunshot wounds; three others, aged 21, 47, and 70, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Later, officers were called to Acre Lane following reports of a stabbing. Both victims of the critical injuries remain in hospital.
Det Ch Insp Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, described the shooting as an "act of indiscriminate violence," assuring residents that efforts are underway to identify those responsible. No arrests have been made in connection with either incident.
A witness described a car approaching and firing seven shots into a gathering outside Southwyck House on Coldharbour Lane, where families had reportedly been enjoying a barbecue. The London Ambulance Service treated four patients at the scene, transporting two to a major trauma centre.
Forensic teams were observed on Sunday sifting through evidence at the Coldharbour Lane site, which locals indicated is frequently used for social gatherings. Authorities are appealing for anyone with information regarding either attack to come forward.
