Car Collides with Viral Shop Shutters in Greater Manchester Incident

Emergency services responded to a collision in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, after a car reportedly crashed into the security shutters of a local shop. The incident occurred at the premises on Drake Street that became widely known in 2023 when a woman was inadvertently hoisted several feet into the air after her coat became entangled with the ascending metal shutters.

Police confirmed their attendance at the scene following reports of a single vehicle collision. Photographs from the site show a dark-coloured vehicle with substantial damage to its front end, positioned against the shop's security shutters. The circumstances leading to the collision remain unclear, and it is not yet known if any injuries were sustained.

This latest event marks the second time the shop has attracted significant public attention, following the widely circulated video of the grandmother's unexpected elevation last September. That previous incident prompted calls for improved safety protocols surrounding automated security systems.
