Four Arrested Over Scottish Businessman's Murder in Kenya
Four men have been arrested in Kenya in connection with the murder of Campbell Scott, a 58-year-old Scottish businessman whose body was found in Makongo Forest in February last year. Mr Scott, from Dunfermline, Fife, was a senior director at credit scoring firm FICO and had travelled to Nairobi for a conference.
Details of the Arrests
Detectives from Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrests following an intelligence-led, multi-agency operation in Ukunda, a coastal town. The suspects, identified as Bernard Mbusu, Isaac Kinoti Kobia, Evans Muthengi Mutaki, and Kelvin Mwangi Njoroge, were apprehended at Ideal Apartments.
These arrests stem from a broader investigation that also linked the individuals to other violent robberies, including one involving an American national in Nyali and another in Watamu, Malindi Sub-County. During a search of their residence, officers recovered stolen items including an HP laptop, mobile phones, assorted foreign currencies, multiple credit cards, cheque books, and PDQ machines.
The Investigation Continues
Mr Scott was reported missing after failing to meet colleagues for a presentation in Nairobi. He was last known to have visited the Havana nightclub. Police believe he was taken to a property in the Pipeline district, where attempts were made to extract money from his bank accounts before his body was found bound in a pineapple sack. A post-mortem examination proved inconclusive regarding the cause of death.
Previously, two men were questioned, and one was formally charged with murder in March last year. The DCI stated that the latest suspects are forensically linked to both Mr Scott's murder and a series of violent robberies, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation into this tragic incident.
