Ghanaian Mother Arrives in US for Son's Funeral, Demands Justice After Fatal Shooting
Maame Araba has travelled from Ghana to the United States for the funeral of her 15-year-old son, Michael K. Asamoah, who was shot and killed in Nashville, Tennessee. Her arrival marks a direct appeal for accountability in a case where no arrests have been made almost a month after the incident.
Michael, known affectionately as 'Mhike', was found deceased on 9th October in the car park of an apartment complex. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has identified three teenage boys as persons of interest, but progress on formal charges remains publicly undisclosed. The family, grappling with the loss, hopes Maame Araba’s presence will galvanise efforts to apprehend those responsible.
Michael had relocated to the US just two years prior, seeking educational opportunities. His death has prompted significant concern within the Ghanaian diaspora, highlighting the urgent need for clarity and resolution from US authorities.
