Switzerland's football captain, Granit Xhaka, is reportedly under investigation concerning his COVID-19 vaccination certificate. This scrutiny arises after Xhaka, who plays for Arsenal, tested positive for coronavirus in September 2021.

The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health confirmed an ongoing probe into the midfielder's certificate. The office stated that, as a matter of principle, it does not comment on ongoing proceedings or specific individuals. Arsenal did not comment on the matter, directing enquiries to the Swiss authorities.

Xhaka publicly stated his refusal to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in September 2021, prior to contracting the virus. At the time, Switzerland's coach, Murat Yakin, confirmed Xhaka's unvaccinated status, explaining that the player had chosen not to be vaccinated, a decision the coaching staff had to respect. This stance prompted a period of isolation for Xhaka following his positive test, sidelining him from key international fixtures.
