Green Party By-Election Candidate Apologises for Sharing Golders Green "False Flag" Posts
Chris Kennedy, a former Green Party by-election candidate for Makerfield, has apologised for sharing social media posts that labelled an arson attack on ambulances belonging to the Hatzola charity in Golders Green, north London, as a "false flag" operation. Kennedy, who was announced as the party's candidate on Thursday, withdrew within hours, citing "personal and family reasons" at the time.
Reports subsequently indicated that shared social media content was a factor in Kennedy's withdrawal. A Green Party spokesperson confirmed discussions with Kennedy regarding the posts, stating he has since deleted them and apologises for the offence caused. The party also clarified that the posts "don't reflect the views of The Green Party."
One of the posts reportedly shared by Kennedy was an Instagram video that described the arrests of two men concerning the Golders Green incident as an attempt to "keep the false flag flying." A "false flag" refers to a political or military action designed to mislead by blaming an opponent. The Makerfield by-election, scheduled for 18 June, was triggered by the resignation of Labour MP Josh Simons.
