Green Party MP Carla Denyer Takes Leave from Bristol Central Due to Burnout
Carla Denyer, the Member of Parliament for Bristol Central, is taking several weeks away from her duties to address health symptoms consistent with occupational burnout. The Green Party MP confirmed the decision, made on medical advice, after struggling with ongoing health concerns alongside the demanding nature of her role.
Denyer, who was elected in the 2024 general election and served as Green Party co-leader from 2021 to 2025, stated that burnout requires active management to prevent long-term health complications. She expressed hope that by openly discussing her experience, she could help destigmatise the condition, which she noted is prevalent in high-stress and public-facing professions.
Her constituency office will maintain normal operations during her absence.
