Hidden Camera Discovered in Westminster Government Building, Security Services Alerted
A hidden camera has been discovered within a government building located in the heart of Westminster. The electronic device was reportedly found in a communal area of the complex on Marsham Street, which houses both the Home Office and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
Reports indicate the device was located behind a ceiling panel within the past two months, leading to the notification of security services. Sources within the Home Office stated the camera was found in the MHCLG section of the building, separate from ministerial offices. An MHCLG spokesperson offered no comment on security matters.
The building serves as a base for the Home Office, responsible for policing and national security in England and Wales, and MHCLG, which oversees housing and planning policy. Conservative shadow Cabinet Office minister Alex Burghart described the incident as serious, demanding an urgent investigation into how long the device was present and whether sensitive information was compromised. Neither the Home Office nor the Prime Minister's spokesman provided further comment beyond the MHCLG statement.
