Huddersfield 'Hitman' Trial: Jury Fails to Convict Norwegian Teenager Johannes Natland
A jury has failed to reach a verdict in the trial of a Norwegian teenager accused of travelling to England to carry out a killing for an international crime gang linked to Iran.
Johannes Kongsnes Natland, 19, allegedly agreed with the Swedish Foxes gang to shoot an unidentified target for €25,000 (£21,500) in March of last year. Armed police arrested him two days after his arrival in the UK at a Huddersfield hotel, West Yorkshire, seizing two firearms and 12 live rounds.
Natland admitted possession of the weapons and ammunition but denied conspiracy to murder. Prosecutors stated they would pursue a retrial, and Natland has been remanded in custody.
Jurors were discharged by Mr Justice Lavender shortly before 15:00 BST after deliberating for 14 hours and 43 minutes without reaching a verdict.
