Body Discovered in Landing Gear of Air Arabia Flight at Gatwick from Tangier
Emergency services responded to Gatwick Airport on Tuesday morning after the discovery of a deceased man within the undercarriage of an Air Arabia aircraft. The flight originated from Tangier, Morocco, arriving at approximately 11:45 BST.
Sussex Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. An airport spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that their teams are assisting both the police and HM Coroner with their inquiries into the matter.
This incident recalls a similar occurrence at Gatwick in December 2022, when another man's body was located in the landing gear of a Tui flight that had travelled from Banjul, The Gambia. That journey typically spans over six hours. Over the years, several individuals attempting to stow away on aircraft have been found dead upon arrival in the UK, including a Pakistani man whose body was discovered near Heathrow Airport in 2001, and another who fell from a Heathrow-bound plane in 1997.
