
ICE Agent Fatally Shoots Colombian National During Maine Immigration Operation
A Colombian national has been fatally shot by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Brunswick, Maine, during an agency operation. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Eliceo Baez Baez.
Authorities stated that ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Fugitive Operations Team was attempting to execute an arrest warrant for Baez Baez when the shooting occurred. Few additional details have been released regarding the circumstances that led to the agent discharging their firearm.
This marks the second such incident within a week. Previously, an undocumented migrant was shot and killed by an immigration agent in Houston, Texas, during another operation. The recent events underscore the lethal force employed by US immigration authorities in their enforcement activities.
