Jamie-Lea Biscoe Dies From Neck Injuries in Leaden Roding Family Dog Attack
A 19-year-old woman, Jamie-Lea Biscoe, died from catastrophic neck injuries following an attack by her family's dog, an inquest has confirmed. Her father discovered her in a bedroom at their home in Leaden Roding, near Great Dunmow, Essex, on 10 April.
Essex Coroner's Court heard that Ms Biscoe sustained "serious, traumatic injuries to her neck", suspected to have been inflicted by the family's lurcher-cross. Senior Coroner for Essex, Lincoln Brookes, expressed condolences to the family, characterising the case as a "truly tragic loss of life".
Paramedics, dispatched to Long Hide, were unable to save Ms Biscoe. A post-mortem examination corroborated that the neck injuries were the cause of death. The animal has been seized by Essex Police for breed identification.
A 37-year-old man from Great Dunmow was apprehended on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog that caused injury resulting in death. He has since been released on bail as the police investigation continues, prompting the suspension of inquest proceedings at their request.
