Kyler Rattray Denies Racist Murder of Dr Fortune Gomo in Dundee, Trial Set for 2028
Kyler Rattray, 21, appeared in court to deny the racially aggravated murder of Dr Fortune Gomo, 60, in Dundee. Dr Gomo, a scientist, was reportedly subjected to a violent knife attack in the city last year. Mr Rattray entered a plea of not guilty to the charges during the recent court appearance.
The High Court in Edinburgh has set a provisional trial date for 2028, a protracted timeline that raises questions regarding the pace of justice for victims and their families. Such extensive delays in high-profile cases are often a point of public concern, particularly when serious allegations of racist violence are involved.
The charges against Mr Rattray allege that he repeatedly struck Dr Gomo with a knife on Morgan Street, Dundee, on 24th October last year. The prosecution further asserts that this alleged assault was aggravated by racial prejudice.
