Liverpool Supporter Accused of Racially Abusing Bournemouth Player Semenyo in 2025 Match
A Liverpool supporter, Michael Anthony Price, has appeared in court, denying an accusation of racially aggravated behaviour towards AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo. The incident allegedly occurred during a Premier League match at Vitality Stadium on 17th February 2025.
The court was told that Mr Price, 44, of Woolton, Liverpool, is accused of making a racist gesture towards Semenyo during the fixture. Semenyo reportedly told officials he 'froze' following the alleged abuse from the stands.
Mr Price pleaded not guilty at Poole Magistrates' Court to a charge of racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm, or distress. The case has been adjourned, and Mr Price is expected to stand trial later this year. The incident underscores the persistent challenge of racism within football grounds, a problem that continues to plague the sport despite repeated campaigns and sanctions.
