
Maldives Dive Operation Sees Rescue Diver Die Searching for Four Italian Tourists
Staff Sergeant Mohamed Mahdhee died after participating in a search and rescue operation for four Italian tourists who drowned during a scuba diving excursion in the Maldives. Mahdhee was transported to hospital in critical condition after his dive and later passed away from his injuries.
The incident involved five Italian nationals, with one body reportedly recovered from a cave at a depth of approximately 60 metres (197ft). The group was attempting to explore caves at depths around 50 metres (164ft) when the accident occurred. Details regarding the recovery of the remaining bodies are pending.
