Mark Doyle, the veteran foreign correspondent, has died at the age of 67. Doyle was widely recognised for his extensive reporting across Africa, particularly his work covering some of the continent's most brutal conflicts.

Reporting African Conflicts

Doyle's career saw him report from numerous nations, including Liberia, Ivory Coast, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He gained significant prominence for his dispatches from Rwanda during the 1994 genocide, where he provided some of the earliest and most comprehensive accounts of the atrocities unfolding.

His coverage of the civil war in Sierra Leone in the late 1990s and early 2000s also brought critical international attention to the violence and its impact on the civilian population. Doyle's work was often characterised by its directness and its focus on the human cost of these conflicts.
