Nathan Owens Jailed for Murdering Stepdaughter Carla Georgescu After Obsession
Nathan Owens, 39, received a life sentence at Bristol Crown Court today, with the judge stipulating he must serve a minimum of 24 years before being considered for parole. The conviction follows the murder of his stepdaughter, Carla Georgescu, 20, at her home in Southmead, Bristol.
During the proceedings, the court was told Owens had a "longstanding sexual obsession" with Ms Georgescu, a factor highlighted by the sentencing judge. The prosecution detailed how Owens had attacked Ms Georgescu, leading to her death. The motive, according to evidence presented, stemmed from his illicit fixation.
Ms Georgescu’s family expressed profound devastation, noting her bright future had been brutally curtailed. The case underscores the tragic consequences of domestic violence, particularly when exacerbated by predatory behaviour within a family unit. Owens had previously admitted to manslaughter but denied murder; however, the jury ultimately found him guilty of the more serious charge.
