Nine Nottinghamshire Pupils Hospitalised After Consuming Seeds at Jesse Gray Primary
Nine children from Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, were transported to hospital on Wednesday after consuming seeds found within the school’s premises.
Emergency services responded to the primary school at 13:26 BST, deploying paramedics, crewed ambulances, and a Hazardous Area Response Team. An air ambulance responder was also present at the scene.
The Year 6 pupils were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre as a precautionary measure, where they underwent several hours of observation. All children were subsequently discharged and have since returned to school.
Following the incident, the area where the children were playing has been cordoned off. A professional inspection by the school’s ground maintenance team concluded with the decision to remove a small number of trees from the site.
A school assembly on Thursday reinforced safety guidance, emphasising the dangers associated with eating unidentified berries or seeds from trees and shrubs.
