Surrey's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Colin Sutton, is currently engaged in an extensive 127-date theatre tour, a commitment that has prompted questions about the prioritisation of his publicly funded role. Mr Sutton, a former Metropolitan Police detective, is presenting a show titled 'The Real Manhunter'.

Critics point to the substantial time commitment required for such a tour, particularly for an individual elected to a full-time public office with a salary of £77,000. Concerns have been raised by opposition parties and some members of the public regarding the practical implications of balancing these engagements with the demands of overseeing Surrey Police and advocating for local residents.

Mr Sutton has dismissed these concerns, stating unequivocally that his theatre performances will not interfere with his responsibilities as PCC. He contends that the tour dates have been scheduled to accommodate his official duties, and that his commitment to his role remains undiminished. This response, however, has not fully assuaged those who question the appropriateness of a senior public official undertaking such a lengthy commercial venture whilst holding office.
