Prime Minister Keir Starmer Meets Henry Nowak Family, Pledges Action After Police Misconduct
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has offered a tribute to Henry Nowak, asserting the 18-year-old "deserves a legacy that goes beyond this awful tragedy." The Prime Minister confirmed he was "profoundly humbled" after meeting Nowak's family at Downing Street on Thursday afternoon.
Mr Starmer committed to utilising all available government powers "to prevent other families from suffering such a devastating loss." This statement follows widespread public scrutiny and condemnation regarding the police response to Nowak's murder.
Bodycam footage has revealed officers placing Nowak in handcuffs as he succumbed to his injuries, after his killer, Vickrum Digwa, falsely alleged he had been the victim of a racial assault. Mr Starmer acknowledged that there are "difficult questions that need to be answered about the way the police handled Henry's murder."
