Queen Camilla Details King Charles III Cancer Diagnosis Secrecy for Charity Appeal
Queen Camilla has spoken publicly for the first time about the challenge of keeping King Charles III's cancer diagnosis private. Her remarks were made in a video released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Maggie's cancer support charity, of which she is president.
Addressing attendees at a reception at Clarence House, Queen Camilla stated, "I think you all know my husband is doing very well. He was very touched by all of your letters and messages. I will pass them on to him. It's been a very difficult time but he's doing very well."
King Charles III's diagnosis was announced publicly in February 2024. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King had begun a schedule of regular treatments, during which he would postpone public-facing duties, though he would continue with state business and official paperwork.
Maggie's charity provides free practical, emotional, and social support to people with cancer and their families. The organisation operates 24 centres across the UK, offering guidance and assistance to those navigating a cancer diagnosis.
