Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage Faces Scrutiny Over Surrey Home Funding Claims
Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, is facing renewed questions regarding the purchase of his £1.4 million Surrey residence in 2024. Reform UK previously stated that Mr Farage acquired the property without a mortgage, using fees from a television appearance.
However, Mr Farage informed the Financial Times in 2025 that the fee from his appearance on 'I'm A Celebrity' was paid to his company, Thorn In The Side Limited. Company accounts subsequently suggest that the income remained within the company's accounts after the property acquisition.
Reform UK has denied that any portion of a £5 million gift received by Mr Farage in April 2024 from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne was used in the house purchase 36 days later. A spokesperson for Mr Farage asserted that anti-money laundering checks for the property occurred in March 2024, prior to the receipt of the gift, and noted that Mr Farage possesses multiple income streams, as detailed in his parliamentary register.
Labour chair Anna Turley criticised Mr Farage, stating, "Nigel Farage needs to stop dodging scrutiny over his undeclared £5m 'gift' and put the evidence on the table to prove what he's saying is true."
