Second Reform Councillor Resigns in Wakefield, Citing Party Organisational Failures
Steve Lewis, who secured a seat on Wakefield Council as a Reform UK representative in the 7 May elections, has declared his departure from the party. Mr Lewis cited a lack of communication and organisational structure within Reform UK as primary reasons for his decision.
This resignation follows closely on the heels of the departure of Sarah Jane Field, another Reform UK councillor for Wakefield, earlier in May. Ms Field also moved to sit as an independent, expressing similar concerns regarding party support and infrastructure.
Mr Lewis stated his intention to continue serving the residents of Horbury and South Ossett as an independent councillor, emphasising his commitment to local issues rather than partisan politics. The departures leave Reform UK with a diminished presence on Wakefield Council, with only Councillor David Dews remaining under the party banner.
