Ten Arrested in Cheshire Raids Over Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light Modern Slavery Allegations
Cheshire Police are continuing to investigate allegations of sexual abuse, forced marriage, and modern slavery linked to the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light (Arpol) community in Crewe. Ten individuals – seven men and three women – were arrested on Wednesday during co-ordinated raids involving 500 officers on Webb House, the group's base, and two other properties.
The inquiry focuses on allegations dating back to 2023, brought forward by a woman who was a member of Arpol when the alleged offences occurred. Authorities, including Europol, provided support for the extensive operation, with officers remaining on site for further searches.
Arpol, which claims roots in Shia Islam but is distinct from mainstream Muslim groups and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, established its base at Webb House in Crewe around 2021. Approximately 150 people are understood to reside there.
In a separate development, local MP Connor Naismith confirmed that police are also investigating allegations of serious harassment, abuse, and intimidation directed at him and his team while they were reporting on the situation. Separately, 13 additional individuals were arrested for public order offences, unrelated to the primary investigation.
