The Trump administration escalated its antagonistic posture towards sections of the press by denying White House access to journalists from CNN, Politico, and M S N O W. Reporters from these organisations had their press badges confiscated, effectively barring them from the presidential residence.
This move occurred after these outlets, alongside the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and Buzzfeed News, were blocked from attending an informal, off-camera press briefing conducted by Press Secretary Sean Spicer. In contrast, conservative media organisations, including Breitbart News, The Washington Times, and One America News Network, were granted entry.
The exclusion of several prominent news organisations from the briefing prompted a walkout by some reporters who had initially been granted access, including a journalist from the Associated Press and a White House correspondent from Time magazine, in a display of solidarity.
