Trump Reiterates United Ireland Stance During Irish Open Visit

Former US President Donald Trump, during his appearance at the Irish Open, affirmed his belief in the prospect of a united Ireland, asserting that “many people agree” with his viewpoint. This marks a consistent position for Trump, who previously articulated similar sentiments during a rally in Washington.

Addressing reporters at the golf tournament, Trump characterised the unification of Ireland as a “big thing” and suggested it would eventually occur. He stated, “I’d love to see it. I think it’s going to happen actually. It’s a big thing, and it’s a very important thing.”

The former President's remarks align with his prior statements, notably from a campaign rally in 2023 where he told supporters, “We want to see a unified Ireland.” His visit to Ireland also included an engagement at his golf resort in Doonbeg, County Clare.
