P Péter Magyar Meets EU Leaders: Billions in Hungarian Funds Forthcoming, Brussels Confirms
Hungary's Prime Minister-elect, Péter Magyar, has announced that billions of Euros in previously frozen EU funds are expected to be released soon, following what he described as "extremely constructive" talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels. Magyar's Tisza party recently secured a landslide victory on 12 April, ending Viktor Orbán's 16-year rule and his Fidesz government's contentious relationship with the EU over rule-of-law and corruption concerns. The incoming government plans to expedite reforms to meet EU conditions and address the country's minimal economic growth.
