Aberdeen High Court Hears Woman Used Hairdryer to Kill Infant Daughter
An Aberdeen woman has been accused of killing her nine-month-old daughter by placing a hairdryer in the infant's cot. Courtney Gartshore appeared at the High Court in Aberdeen, denying culpable homicide and other charges related to the death of Ava Graham.
Prosecutors detailed that Ms Gartshore allegedly placed a switched-on hairdryer into Ava's cot, resulting in the baby's death from overheating. The incident reportedly occurred between 23 March and 5 April 2022.
Further charges against Ms Gartshore include child neglect and drug-related offences. It is alleged she failed to provide adequate nourishment and medical attention to her daughter, leading to Ava suffering a fractured arm and malnourishment. She is also accused of possessing heroin and fentanyl.
