Airbnb Updates Host Policy, Ending Compulsory Guest Chores Including Bed Stripping and Dishwashing
Airbnb has implemented new host regulations, which will prevent hosts from compelling guests to undertake specific cleaning tasks such as stripping beds, washing dishes, or handling laundry. The updated policy applies to all reservations made on or after 20th November.
The company stated the changes are designed to streamline guest expectations and foster greater transparency regarding cleaning fees and responsibilities. While guests are still expected to leave properties in a reasonable condition, including tidying up and disposing of rubbish, hosts can no longer impose detailed, time-consuming chores.
Cleaning fees, a recurring point of contention for many users, are also a focus of the revised guidelines. Airbnb intends for these fees to cover the cost of professional cleaning services rather than requiring guests to perform a deep clean themselves. This adjustment reflects a broader effort to enhance the overall guest experience and address common complaints about inconsistent cleaning demands across various listings.
