Ana Machado Awaits £35,000 Tribunal Payout From Swansea Audio Ltd Six Months Post-Ruling
Ana Machado, a Brazilian national residing in Liverpool, claims she has received no payment from Swansea Audio Ltd, the former operator of Liverpool's Coyote Ugly Saloon, nearly six months after being awarded over GBP#35,000 in compensation.
Machado was dismissed on 31 December 2022. An employment tribunal in October 2025 determined her sacking was an act of harassment, linked to her nationality, and ordered Swansea Audio Ltd to pay GBP#35,526. This sum included GBP#15,000 for injury to feelings and nearly GBP#13,000 for past financial losses.
Machado, who represented herself, stated she was confronted about handling money and allegedly told she was more likely to steal due to sending funds to her family in Brazil. She described the experience as having a severe impact on her mental health, requiring medication for anxiety and sleeplessness, and forcing her to rely on food banks and assistance for utility payments.
Companies House filings for Swansea Audio Ltd up to 30 June 2025 show the company with a deficit of GBP#888,000. Meanwhile, Steve Lewis, a director of Swansea Audio Ltd, incorporated a new entity, Coyote Ugly Liverpool Ltd, in May 2024. Lewis stated the transition to the new company was planned over a year before the tribunal and was unrelated to Machado's case, with all employees transferring under TUPE regulations.
