Armed Police Arrest 61-Year-Old Man for Murder After Woman Dies in Welsh Road Crash
South Wales Police have confirmed the arrest of a 61-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a 47-year-old woman died in a car crash. The incident occurred on the A48 near the Laleston roundabout in Bridgend, Wales.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 08:30 GMT on Wednesday, 20 November, following reports of a single-vehicle collision. The female driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigations by police indicated that the woman had sustained injuries described as “unrelated” to the impact of the crash, prompting the murder inquiry.
The arrested man was apprehended by armed police officers and remains in custody, assisting with ongoing enquiries. A cordon was established around the crash site, leading to significant road closures and diversions in the area for several hours.
Authorities have urged anyone with information, particularly those with dash-cam footage of the A48 between Bridgend and Pyle around the time of the incident, to come forward and aid the investigation.
