ASLEF Union Announces Further London Underground Driver Strikes Over Working Conditions
London Underground is facing renewed disruption as the ASLEF union confirms fresh strike action from its driver members. The walkouts are scheduled for specific dates in May and June, impacting services across the network.
The union stated the dispute centres on what it describes as a failure by Transport for London (TfL) to honour agreements regarding working conditions for its drivers. This includes issues around rosters, shift patterns, and overall terms of employment, which ASLEF argues have not been adequately addressed following previous discussions.
TfL has acknowledged the planned industrial action and is advising passengers to check for service updates before travelling on the affected dates. The organisation maintains that it is committed to resolving the dispute and has urged ASLEF to engage in further negotiations to prevent the strikes. However, the union's general secretary reiterated that without significant movement from TfL on the core issues, the industrial action will proceed as planned, potentially causing considerable inconvenience for millions of commuters.
