Belfast Man Nicholas Gordon Dies After Holywood Road Apartment Break-in, Police Investigate

Detectives have initiated a murder investigation after Nicholas Gordon, 51, died following a break-in at an apartment building in east Belfast. Mr. Gordon was reportedly assaulted by multiple intruders who entered a Holywood Road apartment early on Tuesday morning.

He was transported to hospital but subsequently succumbed to his injuries. A 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were apprehended on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, though both have since been released on bail.

Police were notified of the assault around 08:25 BST on Tuesday, with the incident itself believed to have occurred approximately 04:45. Detective Chief Inspector Duffie confirmed that a “number of intruders” gained entry to the property and “attacked another male, before making off.”

Authorities are appealing for any individuals with relevant information to come forward.
