
Bermondsey Recycling Centre Fire Disrupts London Bridge Rail Services for Hours
A substantial fire at a recycling facility on Landmann Way, Bermondsey, has necessitated the deployment of approximately 100 firefighters and fifteen engines. London Fire Brigade crews were dispatched shortly after 17:30 BST, utilising turntable ladders to combat the blaze from above.
Images circulating online depict considerable plumes of smoke emanating from the site. Local residents have been advised to keep windows and doors shut as a precaution.
The incident has severely impacted rail operations from London Bridge. Southeastern Railway has reported delays, diversions, and halted services, attributing the disruption to a fire on property adjacent to the railway. A Network Rail spokesperson confirmed the closure of all lines, forecasting major disruption throughout the evening.
Southeastern and Thameslink services departing, arriving, or transiting through London Bridge are projected to experience continued disruption until at least 22:30. Passengers planning journeys in the affected area are advised to seek alternative routes, anticipating extended travel times.
