Boxer Joe Cordina Struck Man to Ground in Retaliation, Cardiff Court Hears
Professional boxer Joe Cordina 'retaliated' when he punched a man to the ground during a street confrontation in Cardiff, a court has been told. Cordina, 32, stands accused of two counts of assault by beating stemming from the incident on 27 February.
Cardiff Magistrates' Court heard that the IBF super-featherweight champion allegedly punched two men during the altercation. The prosecution outlined that the incident occurred shortly after Cordina had been out with his wife.
Defence counsel stated that Cordina was initially struck in the face, prompting his subsequent actions. The court was presented with a short video clip of the incident, recorded by a witness, which formed part of the evidence.
The trial continues, with further evidence expected to be heard regarding the sequence of events and the nature of the alleged assaults.
