Jo Shaw, 35, and Ryan Kelly, 41, have been identified as the two individuals killed in a house explosion on Sterncourt Road, Frenchay, Bristol, on Sunday morning. Police reported Kelly forced his way into Shaw's home, allegedly in possession of an explosive device.
Superintendent Matt Ebbs of Avon and Somerset Police confirmed Shaw's death is being investigated as a homicide, based on current information. Emergency services were alerted at 06:17 BST by a person inside the property reporting a domestic incident, stating a man known to them had forced entry. At approximately 06:30, the caller indicated the intruder was believed to have an explosive device. The explosion occurred around 06:32, with officers arriving two minutes later.
Three other individuals received minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation. An army bomb disposal team conducted extensive searches to ensure public safety. Police confirmed the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related, stating the explosion's cause is believed to be deliberate, though analysis of the device remains incomplete.
