Cabinet Office to Release Additional Mandelson Papers Before Christmas
The Cabinet Office has confirmed that more papers related to former Labour Cabinet Minister Lord Mandelson are earmarked for publication before Christmas. This follows two earlier tranches of documents that were released to the public in March and June of this year.
The previous withholding of these particular government records was attributed by the Cabinet Office to their direct involvement in an active police investigation. Details regarding the nature of this investigation, or how the documents pertain to it, have not been publicly elaborated.
Lord Mandelson served in various ministerial capacities under Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, making his governmental records a subject of public and historical interest. The anticipated release will provide further insight into aspects of his tenure.
