Cairngorms Wildfire Evacuation Lifted, Residents Return to Affected Area

Residents evacuated from the area surrounding the Cairngorms wildfire in Scotland are now permitted to return to their homes. Police Scotland confirmed on Sunday that the major incident declaration, initially made on Friday, has been stood down.

Properties near Carrbridge and Dulnain Bridge were cleared as a precautionary measure due to the rapid spread of the fire. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) had deployed a helicopter to assist ground crews in bringing the blaze under control, operating in challenging conditions across the moorland.

Authorities have urged returning residents to exercise caution due to residual smoke in the area. While the immediate threat has receded, the focus now shifts to assessing any damage and ensuring the complete suppression of the fire's remnants.
